Finles Capital is an investment boutique with a long track record specializing in alternative investment funds and servicing investment managers globally.
Our History
Finles was founded by Dolf van der Weij in the Netherlands as a preferred supplier to the white-collar union the NCHP — nowadays De Unie — together with Achmea Insurance and AXA Insurance company.
Finles started as an intermediary firm for financial services, specializing in life insurance, mortgage and banking brokerage. In the mid-eighties, Finles was one of the first Fund Managers introducing and setting up funds in the Netherlands, servicing more than 35,000 clients.
Rob van Kuijk and Hans van der Holst joined as co-chief executives, bringing a new focus on absolute return strategies. Finles began to evolve from traditional financial services towards alternative investment management.
Finles became one of the first Dutch fund managers to invest in hedge funds, pioneering multi-manager portfolio strategies in the Netherlands.
Rob van Kuijk and Hans van der Holst bought out the 50% share held by Achmea and AXA, becoming full owners of Finles. The same year, Finles launched its Star Selector fund — the first multi-manager hedge fund in the Netherlands with a performance fee-only cost structure.
Finles sold its insurance brokerage business and concentrated on managing a family of hedge funds, covering a wide variety of strategies such as volatility arbitrage, alternative credit, long-short equity, long only equity, long-short bonds and Asian equities.
Finles Capital works exclusively for professional clients, has a global outreach and is predominantly working in the field of alternative investment funds with a focus on three core asset classes: private debt, natural resources, and private equity secondaries.

CEO & Managing Partner
After joining Finles as managing partner in 1994, Rob became one of the first hedge fund managers in the Netherlands. With 25+ years of experience as an investment manager, investing in alternative investments in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Prior to joining Finles, Mr. Van Kuijk worked in auditing at Van Dien & Co (currently PWC) and as a Director at Delta Lloyd (Aviva).
Managing Partner
Maxim brings extensive international experience in financial services and alternative investments. As Managing Partner, he drives the firm's strategic direction and oversees client relationships across global markets.
